Oh! I also found a shard of old Indian pottery in the riverbed. I was going to donate it to the Rock Glen museum, but I decided to keep it for myself. I still have it.
I've been here lots of times :) The falls are very beautiful, and if you're the adventurous type you can cross the river on the rocks and hike up the side of river to an even bigger river at the end.
Anyone know if there is any good trout fishing around this area. I think its the Ausable river isnt it? I live in london ontario and fly fish, looking for some good spots.
My parents used to bring me and my childhood friends there every summer. We had such great fun collecting shell and coral fossils. I can remember one giant fossil imbedded in rock which appeard to be a type of cuttlefish. Great place for frog catching too!
Rock Glen was the site of the greatest field trip EVER when I was a kid. There were so many fossils in that riverbed and those falls, it was like a dream come true for an amateur paleontologist kid such as myself. I found a few Devonian shells and other sea fossils but what I really wanted was a trilobite. I couldn't find one but the girl in the class who already had TWO found another one. I was so pissed off. I still want a trilobite fossil.
@Bloodtoastie stone tools are fairly common in south-western ontario but pottery not so much. lucky you.
