hmm...what free market forces do not apply? you mention that because consumers require health care, they do not have a choice about whether or not they can abstain from consuming health care services...therefore....what? you have to eat. why are hamburgers only $5? you have no choice about abstaining from food, therefore food is not affected by free market forces.
what decides the prices for either of these markets?

Mmm, well, I made a comment on this response before that was well thought out, and I don't know where it went. Anyway, I am curious. Why do you continue to give these extremely high prices for health care? I understand that of course some procedures are that expensive, but not alot. Also, I'd like to point out that insurance companies inflate the cost of healthcare because a doctor knows that if his patients have healthcare insurance, he will be paid, and thus he charges a lot for his services.

Excellent framework for the argument for universal health care. I grew up in Canada and have always wondered for the past 12 yeasr how this crazy health care system in US is viable. You hit it on the head. Anyone that thinks 'conservative' must be nuts.

You use extremely large numbers when describing the price of healthcare. You must recognize that the system we have today isn't a true free market system, and it's driving up healthcare costs. Prices for healthcare services are fixed and if left to a true free market, the minimum wage employee would be able to negotiate with the provider.
