Thailand is changing but it's not about what you mentioned at least not directly. The fact is Thai people are aware of differences between each other. You could say they were more ignorant or apathetic towards things in the past. Of course, the modern world bring stress to all but in the past people didn't realize that they had so little and how badly they were treated by those in their countries heirachy.
