Just out of interest for all you mangonel experts, no such weapon ever existed. It was a product of the fertile imagination of monk scribes several hundred years later. A spoon fitted onager simply doesn't work and its a waste of effort to depower an onager by taking off the sling and adding weight as well as killing the release angle.
Sorry about that.

@zachr121 This is an onager it is an advancement of the mangonel. The sling gives it extra power.

The mangonel (in it's traditional sense) is an onager with a fixed bowl, although the name could be used to refer to any siege engine, and onager was the roman word, so this machine would, in the middle-ages, be referred to as a mangonel. The fixed bowl allowed numerous projectiles to be thrown.

Hey there, do you think by chance you and your team could create a tutorial of building the Onager Catapult ? It would be really awesome if you all could !!! Just had a question, What is the design that the skein is being held, the portion where it has the cupping portion on the sides ? Is it possible to make a ratchet mechanism for twisting the skein ?
I like the part where hes winding it.
