me too. I was just saying that. It gives the entire thing a real surreal outerspacey look, which I think they were gojng for. But it gives me a headache. The story is so good though, I'll deal with a minor headache to watch ;) .

AMAZING review. You never fail to impress me. I've been watching this on Funimation's Video portal thing and I am really enjoying it. It's mature refined and elegant. And the story is very dramatic and suspenseful at times, which I love. The dub is good as well. But the artwork gives me a bit of a headache, even if it is nice. I think the weirdness of how it moves was done on purpose tho. I MUST buy this on DVD sooner rather then later. Glad funimation re-released this, gata pick up their boxset

I thought the transparent arm thing was intended.

I remember sending you a message asking if you've seen series such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Mushishi.
I haven't backtracked to check all of your reviews, but I'll get to it someday!

the Ss kind of hiss as well, but i like the visual style of your reviews. anime reviews in verdant nature is much more pleasing to the eye than in a dimly lit room in front of a computer.

must be some technological jiggery-pokery that the mic on your camera picks up the wind passing by and your Ps kind of pop when you speak.
-
Hey, you said 'jiggerpokey' again! ^_^
I really love the art in this show--it's so trippy! It reminds me of Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, what with the clothing patterns not moving with the characters. It must look awesome when you're stoned...
And thanks for the heads up on Jamieson Price--after a little research, it turns out he's voice some of my favorite characters! Tanks, Uncle!

I just realized that Hayao Miyazaki and I have the same birth dates.

i'm gonna use "jiggerpokey" to refer to strange objects from now on.
Nice review as always.
Grumpy Ojii-san, have you ever considered doing a review of Neon Genesis Evangleion? I would be interested to hear your take on it.

Considering the series is going on 5 years old, and how far 3D and computer assisted animation have come in those years, I'd say the artstyle still holds up. Not as much as say, Macross Zero, but that's comparing two different formats.
I'm pretty sure Gonzo must have just bought a new version of Photoshop before Gankutsuou was made and just wanted to play around with it while working.
