Poor Man's Deburring Tumbler

OK, I'm just starting to explore ways to deburr plasma cut parts, and not ready to shell out money for equipment yet. So, I devised this cheap way to expirament with tumbling. It's a $2.49 5 Gallon Homer Paint Bucket with a plate bolted on the bottom that has a stub welded to it to chuck on in the lathe. Inside the bucket are 2 pieces of 2" aluminum angle bolted 180 degrees apart to act as agitators. I also cut out a steel disk to fit inside the lid and fit into a center in the tailstock of the lathe. I put in my parts, about a gallon of #57 gravel, and about 1/2 gallon water then let it spin for a while. I adjusted the speed to get a nice, steady growl from the mixture... Works great, although it does take some time.

You and I are on the same page. I found a small lathe for $3,00 at a Sale. took the plate and bolted it to a large jar, and use it to turn wood parts with 1200 girt sand, I had to mod a little bit, and use 4 casters to hold the "cooky Jar" with our product in it, but works like a charm and I can adjust the speed.
