Here's part 2 of the championship match. The number 2 seeded team Billy Walden and Ron Palombi Jr just defeated the 3rd seeded team consisting of John Hriscina and Brian Voss in the semifinal match. The team of Walden and Palombi have their hands full as they compete against the team of Carmen Salvino and Randy Pedersen. The event took place at Thruway Lanes, a bowling center in Cheektowaga, NY.
No, he was still looping it back then too.

I forgot about the six-step... probably the only show he made doing that is the 1994 Hall of Fame Open in St. Louis.
The straighter armswing goes as early as the 1990 U.S. Open, I believe.

If you were to watch tournaments from 1993 (PBA National, Rochester Open), you'll notice his straighter, higher armswing.
He also went to a 6-step approach on his strike shots beginning in 1994 (he still used 5 steps for his spares though).

Yup, this is his old armswing before he cut some of the loop out of it. If you watch something a few years later his armswing is a few inches straighter and a bit higher.

You are correct, you will be able to notice it when Salvino gives him a bear hug near the end.

It looks like Palombi really twists his body at the top of his backswing.

Pedereson bowled awful well. Was this when he was wearing braces?
