except for the last 4 games, the final was a horrible match--like the chang match @the masters at the end of that year
mac won this tourney but got ripped by lendl in the canadian open final in toronto a week l8r that left a sour taste in mac's mouth... the open started the next day
i feel the opposite of what has been said about krickstein
the final the year b4 sucked too... as mac said, the surface was tailor-made for becker's serve & mac was having confidence/serving issues

its funny just a few weeks later mcenroe loses to paul haurhuis at the us open and then krickstein beats haurhuis in straight sets 2 rounds later.

Hahahaa.... if you look in the beginning of my "coolest McEnroe short film" video you will see an autographed still of McEnroe inserted. I was there and shot it with a Nikon 4004s LOL. It's from either this match or the one after it, the final.
