  • My father Arthur was born in 1898 and with his seven other brothers were the polka band here at Anhalt back in the early 1900's prior to World War One. My grandfather Opa 'E' bought each of the boys a musical instrument and made them learn to play. They played Anhalt, Echo Hall in Comal Town, ClearSprings, Sisterdale, Blanco, TwinSisters, and other dance halls that were in horseback or wagon range. They resided at Smithson's Valley, Texas.
