  • I am having a problem with combining rows of purl stitch with rows of other stitches.

It seems that when I do several rows of purl, the project tends to climb 'up' the pegs rather than hanging down in the middle of the loom. I am trying to make a hat with a purled brim, with the rest of the hat being made with the e-wrap stitch. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

  • @cherrypizza Yes the purl stitches will "curl" one direction. When you knit the stitches, with the traditional knit, flat, u or even ewrap which is the twisted knit it. Curls in the opposite direction since they are all a version of the stockingnette stitch. you can alternate knit & purl rows or stitches for a few rows to prevent curling. Whatch my videos on no roll garter or no roll rib for hat brims or panels. There are two videos, let me know if this helps :) -Kristen

  • Can you do a tutorial on making a square dishcloth please? I cannot find a video anywhere and that is how I learn:)

  • @living4himjoshayden Sure, I can add that to my list :-) Actually I got a "penny rake" from Markman looms recently that is perfect for that. It also comes with a dishcloth pattern, but I wouldn't film that & use my own. If you want 2 get started though u can use the smallest knifty knitter & use 2 strands of cotton. Use my video of for the garter stitch pattern. Just knit til u get the length that matches the width. Then use video for the basic bind off method. hope that helps! -Kristen

  • How do you do this using both sides of the loom?

  • @RonHeartsMe just continue all the way around the loom like you are doing it in the round. You can leave the peg from getting connected and you will get a flat panel. If you are looking for a double knit item the purl isn't done that way though. It's like it shows up when you do certain stitches like the single, double or triple rib stitch. it naturally appears. check out those videos it that is more what you are looking for in my video list. Happy Looming!-Kristen

  • @GoodKnitKisses Thanks Kristen---I did figure it out, but could only get one strand of the cotton over the pegs. It still came out pretty good..next time though I need to make it a wider dish cloth. I will check out that garter stitch video of yours too though!

  • Just like finger knitting!

  • @bjyaltus1 1.use the basic bind off method for most all stitches. This creates a chain. Then finish off the other starting end use my video for finishing the loose side so it looks the same. I have videos for both. YouTube won't let me put links in my reply to you.

    2. If you only want 1 strand of cotton then use the long loom as a flat panel. I'd use the knit stitch worked using te easy way of a flat stitch or U. Check out my video on that. Basic bind off again. It might be loose with 1 strand.

  • 1. How do I cast off on the purl knit? 2. What is the best stitch I can do for a retangular loom dishcloth? I would be using 100% cotton and only want to use

one strand. I need something easy because I am still at stage where I need to watch a video to know what to do. Thanks for your assistance.
