We've been so busy dishing about the CW's newest show, "The Vampire Diaries" that a big question passed us by... Who are the fresh-faced stars in the new hit show and where did they come from? Keep watching for all the details.

Hey guys-Joslyn Davis here for ClevverTV with the inside scoop on the cast of Vampire Diaries. For most of the actors on the new show-this gig is a big break.

First up is Nina Dobrev, who is the 20 year old actress playing Elena Gilbert. She was born in Bulgaria and moved to Canada with her family when she was two. In Canada, she reached success on the show "Degrassi: The Next Generation," BUT Vampire Diaries marks her first leading TV role in the US.

Her co-star, Paul Wesley, who plays the good brother Stefan Salvatore, is 27 years old. He got the acting bug in elementary school, and before joining the cast of Vampire Diaries, he had several small roles on shows like "The Guiding Light," "Everwood," and he is also currently appearing in episodes of "24."


The bad boy on Vampire Diaries, Damon Salvatore, is played by 31-year-old actor Ian Somerhalder. Like lots of other famous names, Ian got his start as a model at age 10, modeling for top fashion lines like Calvin Klein, and D&G. He was also the face for Guess for two consecutive fall seasons, but he doesn't like to talk about it much because he wants to be seen as more than a pretty face. Like Paul Wesley, Ian had lots of roles on other TV shows, including "Lost" before he landed his vampy new role.

Steven R. McQueen plays Elena's troubled brother Jeremy. And yes, he is the grandson of acting legend Steve McQueen. His girlfriend is JONAS star Chelsea Staub. And, Like Paul Wesley, Steven also appeared on several episodes of the now off-air show "Everwood."

Then of course there's Katerina Graham, who plays Elena's bff Bonnie. The 20 year old beauty, who was born in Geneva, Switzerland, has been busy acting in movies like "17 Again" and appearing on shows like "Hannah Montana."

All in all, this core cast represents a new age in young Hollywood.

the show is better than the books and it is soo much better than twilight. i cant even understand why is that movie so popular?! i mean... its ok for one time... but it is not so great. it's so elementary. The Vampire Diaries rocks :) And Bulgaria is actually very beautiful and nice country. Bulgarian girs are pretty <3 :))

well, its funny she mentions Salvatore-e rather than Salvatore cause its in English. not Italian.
