  • I guess this show was made before the Emma Maersk keel was laid.

  • Oh yeah.

  • 11 million containers on 8000 ships a year at just that 1 port, that is crazy

anyone know the worlds total number of containers shipped around the world a year

  • The amount they speake of is not individual containers of course. Some containers may return to the same port several times in a year. I know Maersk alone has over 1.2 millon + containers in there fleet... if Had to take a guess from all the ship lines in the world... 15 - 20 million active on ships and sitting at ports. This is not counting any retired containers.

  • There is a scene in this program showing a Danish guy torch cutting some steel beams directly under a section of the bow wave nose WHILE IT IS BEING SUSPENDED UNDER A GANTRY CRANE!!!! This is insane! Longshore workers would never do something this stupid. Crane hydraulics can rupture anytime or cables can break. This was a very dumb move. I hope he was reprimanded.....

  • True... this is a big NO NO in america but... I don't think they care as much overseas.

  • The narrator is right if ICTF Long Beach comes to a halt COSTCO (container at 1:53) will not get its shipment, stores will go empty, and America and the world will grind to a halt. it is ICFT Long Beaches job to get every container off a ship and send the rest that is coming in to Singapore to keep the conveyor belt of trade going.

  • The Adrian and the Alabama are in this episode both got jacked by Somali Pirates in the Gulf. their crews defeated them and delivered the cargo on time.
