Playing guitar over a backing track (http://www.guitarbt.com) for the Bon Jovi song "You Give Love A Bad Name". This backing track is truncated, so if anyone finds the full-length version of it (not the one with the cheesy keyboard intro that everybody else on Youtube uses), I will love you forever if you pass it along.

To achieve the proper effect in the intro solo, I used the Harmonizer effect on my Boss GT-6 set down one octave. Yes, there are two guitars playing one octave apart in the actual studio recording. Watch Richie Sambora talk about it here:

Artificial harmonics are also somewhat difficult to squeeze out of this guitar. They fly off the fretboard on my Les Paul, but I need the Floyd Rose here to play this song properly. Compromises...

Equipment: 1998 Jackson SHS1 Shannon Soloist (http://www.jacksonguitars.com) through Boss GT-6 as preamp into effects return of Mesa/Boogie DC-2 as tube poweramp. NOT front-end input.

  • u can tell its not a fake cause ur playin an octave up from the original.

  • @razched what do you mean "what wrong with his hand?"

  • check out my site for Edge sounds ...sound like the edge.com (no spaces)

  • Use Audacity free software, inport the backing track and use the' silence ' tool to mute the cheesy keyboard intro section. Resave as an mp3

  • hey could you message me tabs or tell me where you got them.. theres too many tab variations on this song. idk which one is right.

  • what's wrong with his hand? epileptic?

  • Where did you get the backing track?

  • not fake totally awesome

  • Very good! congrats!! It seems you play a little hard, in my opinion you need to relax your right hand man, but it´s ok, great performance, and precise timing. I made myself a complete backing track of this song, to play along with my guitar, it has only bass, drums ans keys, I´d like to share it with you if you are willing to make a new video with my backing track and put it online with my credits, it isn´t much trouble. Way to go man!!

  • could you give me the setting of the sound please..
