  • All my drill bits are pointed. Takes only 10 seconds to get them pointed. Great video. When I started metal working, I knew nothing. After the video I know 20-percent more.

  • What do you mean by pointed?

  • Check out 3:17 on the video. The bit isn't pointed so it'll so dance or walk away. My bits are pointed for metal drilling, they never move. They're unlike wood drilling tips. I can't even find a image example on the web to show you.

  • Most bits I've seen that are sold for metal working aren't pointed... do you buy specially pointed ones or sharpen them yourself? I think split-points limit the walking problem, also. I bet there's a reason why bits aren't manufactured with pointed tips...

  • A high-resolution DVD is now available on our website that features this video along with our introduction to Soldering and Surface Mount Soldering 101 videos. It was produced for people wanting to show the videos in lab or club meetings. Thanks

  • Very good instructional video. Any suggestions on where to get cheap taps?

  • Well, we sell some on our website that are on the cheaper end of the scale, but still decent quality. Cheaper taps can be found, but might dull after just a couple runs through steel. If you want the best of the best, American made, google cleveland or greenfield.

  • Hi, im trying to pop a little dome / ridge that is less then 1cm long into a piece of metal container so when i close it, the lid will stick on to the little tiny dome so the lid will stay closed because currently nothing is holding it closed. If anyone knows what i am talking about can they please answer me or tell me what kind of tool can do this, im thinking some kind of handheld tool like a wrench that and press it and pop out the dome. Thanks.

  • What is the best way to go about making a hole in a steel chassis? My method right now is to use a center punch, a small pilot hole, and finally the full sized hole. It seems to push some material out the back and create nasty burrs which is really annoying.

  • Excellent video. I would like to point out that with some basic equipment you can fix broken taps that a beginner can preform. We did this all the time at the shop.Any metal worker should have some kind of small welder at hand, or the ability to rent one when needed.First would be to redrill your hole larger then needed to clean up all the old broken tap with in the old hole. For aluminum use tig. For steel, clamp a piece of copper "flat surface" on bottom and gently plug weld it. Sand, redrill.
