The Lancers turned in a gritty performance Tuesday night in Palos Hills, IL against a high energy, up-tempo opponent in Moraine Valley Community College. St. John's Northwestern saw a second half lead slowly erased by the full-court pressure of the Cyclones, a clutch 3 pointer from high scorer Brandon Mobley (31) sent the game into overtime. In the extra period the Lancers pulled away and held on down the stretch ending the game with a 77-75 victory.
Mobley's performance was accompanied by solid outings by Russell Finco (10) and Josh Humphrey (8). Key plays in the final minutes and overtime by Martin Breunig and Lawrence Alexander help seal the win for the now 3-0 Lancers squad. Head Coach Brian Richert on his team's third win of the season "Brandon stepped up and really had a great night, but it truly was a full team effort. It's great to see guys making plays off the ball and setting up their teammates against defensive pressure like that. Anytime you want to win on the road you have to have all twelve guys on board, especially against an opponent like Moraine Valley."
