  • It isn't a bad play call when the defense is outside shade. If you understood zone blocking, an outside defender is just fine. They will just stretch the front side and cut it inside the TE block. The RB has a read on the 2nd DL outside the center. If he pushes outside he cuts back inside. If he does indeed get sealed then the RB is to continue on his track. In either case, this isn't a "bad playcall" and it can be run efficiently. This video is a perfect example of zone blocking misconceptions.
