I had a engine very similar to this one but made by Meccano. I had it as a Christmas present when I was 7 yrs old that nearly 60 years ago. It still works and I have the original box and instruction with it.

They really are fine steam engines stuman01
You could always replace the whistle on your SE3 with a brass turned one
They come up on ebay occasionaly
