Dave here. Ol' "Lonesome George" was front-page news, in Daytona Beach, at least, on the Sunday after the first appearance of "The George Gobel Show." The reporter said George's plain, naive-seeming folksy humor was understandable even to a French visitor. It's unusual for people of different cultures to understand eachothers' humor, but George transcended that barrier. His style was unique at that time. Our family thoroughly enjoyed his show, though after a while it became predictable.

This is great stuff! Old Lonesome George was pure fun silliness. I was a teenager probably when this was performed. George Gobel always made me laugh because he was sillier than us kids and we never knew what kind of funny things he would say or do. God bless the soul of Lonesome George Gobel.
