  • Hey dude, I want to get the same deck in the future.. Does it have 3 heads or not? i mean, when I record, can I hear what i'm recording in the same time with the process or not? it's freaky I can't find any info about it...

  • @Tzermure im pretty sure its 3 head i have this deck in storage but im quite certain as high end this deck is it would be 3 head

  • That is one nice deck! LOADED with features, there's SO many buttons!! Now with the Califone/Akai reel-to-reel above, it looks like you left it in Rewind. If so, and if it's still like that, I'd like you to return it to Stop position so the idler doesn't get a dent in it.

  • lol yeah i had noticed that and took it off right after i made the video. thanks for noticing.

  • @phantom3rdchannel Well, i've asked some other owner of this model the same thing.... and he said it's 2 head. But it doesn't matter... a good deck is a good deck :0 Even if it has only two heads. I can't wait to get one :D

  • I almost got the same deck, only mine says Akai GX-f66r. (not RC)

I got 2 problems with it. The cassette backlight does not work.

Some cassettes won't do Intro scan and/or blank search.

So the program function does not work either.

The problem seems mechanical in the transport section.

Probably it needs a service. Sound quality is good.

  • I think the program feature has one bad point with it . It's not that good for the tape and the heads beqause it uses the play head to search for the blank spots between the songs. So the tape goes with high speed over the heads.

Correct me If i'm wrong, does it work different?

  • Feature packed deck definetly studio material .

Like that reel to reel too.

  • 1981--That's when cassette decks were worth their weight in gold.

  • That's a really nice cassette deck! Great sound and it looks really nice!

  • love those akai decks to,

  • Amazing tape deck you have there!!!
