@fireguy789 i know now, I've worked out that you have to select certain vertices on edit mode to make it smooth properly, otherwise it screws up the model

how do you make the circular lego parts look so smooth, when I import my models into Blender, the rounded parts don't look very smooth, they look more like octagons...is there a way to eliminate this?

@Saminatorger I don't, the software does that (I use Carrara, though, not Blender). Blender has a button labeled AutoSmooth. Try that out.
As for your question: In 3D modeling, models are made up of points, lines and polygons. A circle, in theory, is made up of infinite points and lines, but that makes an infinitely large file. Hence, you need to be practical with how many points you need to draw a circle. In this case, 8 points was enough. Smoothing takes care of the rest.

I feel like such a n00b for asking but...do you use carrera for this, or blender, or some combination of the two?
