just wanted to drop a quick line to the person getting her definitions and thoughts of pessimistim from a MTV cartoon -
try dealing with a dad who was forced into retirement due to health problems, depression, alcoholism, confined to indoors, failing economy...blah, blah, blah - and I would say he's FAR from ma man with great strenght to deal or have perspective on anything!
Must be nice to live in a land where something of this size hasn't slapped you in the face - i say she's dead on!

I think she completely misunderstood pessimism. If you look at the mtv show "Daria" who is depicted as pessimistic, pessimism is about probability. It gives you strength, it takes away the pain of disappointment, and helps you keep people in perspective and not be lead off blindly to your own harm.
