@2001Ramair Thank you for explaining that, it actually make sense. In my area we only have 87, 89 and 91 octane readily available so is it really worth the extra .20 a gallon for only 4 more octane? Perhaps 93 is great but without it I don't see the need for it at least for where I live.
@93549john1 I'm still trying to figure out how the premium gas gives you more power...can someone explain that? Since octance rating is just a rating for resistance to cumbustion. I'm not trying to start an argument but how is its resistance to combustion help gain power?
@triplexxxsatyr I don't think their knocking on any doors, they engineer a product that has to meet a wide range of criteria, ranging from fuel economy, engine temperature, longevity, servicing, etc. It's not uncommon for someone to get more HP/TQ out of a factory vehicle with the sacrifice of something else.
Higher octane fuel burns longer

@hippiestomper17 If you get an SCT tuner from American muscle they will give three tunes one for fuel mileage and two for performance.

how do these tuners affect mileage?

@xLuckydemonx higher octane rating increases your knock threshold aka less detonation.

@xLuckydemonx The reason is the computer can advance the timing more with high octane fuel producing more HP.

and 6th is way down there at 0.69. hmm wonder if the gas mileage is better than they say when just cruising 75 down the e-way...

@1HeartnSoul No the tune is on 87 octane fuel, so yes a more aggressive tune on 93 octane would make tons more power.!!!
