Highlander didn't need a sequel...it stands on its own. When MacLeod takes "the Prize"...that should have been the end.

Highlander was a great film..wonderful characters..great concept...and the end...when MacLeod wins "the Prize"...that should have been it. It didn't need a sequel...as it clearly stood on it's own...It's still a wonderful film and will always be a favorite of mine..."Hey...it's a kind of MAGIC!"

The biggest problem with this movie is that it was set up for a sequel, and then make a sequel that didn't play by the rules of the original. It's okay, like Fast and Furious 2, to be different from the original, but a sequel must inhabit the same planet. Highlander was great, but it held back for a sequel that was ridiculous.

I dissagree. how is "you won everything, all the immortals are gone other than you, you are now mortal" setting up for a sequel?

The sequels were fabrications based not on the first movie's plot, but on the desire to ride on its coattails.
