Last Morning Living in my car - Moving In Day - Homeless in Hollywood

This is my last morning having to wake up in my car. Well if I can keep paying my rent without a problem then it will be the last morning I wake up in my car.

Today is Feb 14 2009. Valentines Day. What better way to ignore the fact you are single and living on the streets of Hollywood on Valentines Day... then by Getting off the streets?

Please be courteous to the fact that I am posting honest emotional experiences here. Please flag bad comments that are made. I want to get feedback and start conversations but please keep the comments from lashing out at my openness.

I'm planning to live in a car during college. Is it hard to breathe in there? Do you get bothered by cops?

@atlantic47 If it gets hot crack your windows on the opposite side from you (unless you have crazy misquitos... the main reason I could do this is because Hollywood has cool evenings almost year round.) because if a bug comes in or if someone tries to break your window to get in you will be on the opposite side of the car to run :) Not to scare you but I really thought of many different scenarios. I never encountered them but just want to pass on what my concerns were.

@dvdvanity Wow thanks so much for all of the tips, man! My car unfortunately doesn't have air conditioning or radio but I'll definitely remember not to charge my phone while it's not running. Thanks!

@atlantic47 ...and don't turn on your air conditioning or radio without turning on your car because you will drain your battery and not have a way to start it in the morning. I once had to remove my battery and I just so happened to have a battery charger in my truck. I walked to the nearest apartment building and charged my car battery from an open outlet in the courtyard for like an hour. Not recommended :) Only tell friends you trust that you are doing this but I would mainly keep it secret.

@atlantic47 If the climate is not hot and the neighborhood is safe I say go for it. Join a gym to shower and change. Have a good book to read at night. Make sure to watch the videos where I show you how to block out your windows. You don't want someone walking up to you and watch you snoring. Also with police. It's kinda like a brown paper bag around a liquor bottle. If they can't see you... they usually won't bother you. Also be sure to not charge your phone in the car charger over night...
