Also, does the turntable stop exactly in line with the tracks automatically or do you have to stop it at exactly the right time for the rails to line up?

The control is manual but it is easy to line up the rails. The motor is separate and the turntable is not weathered. The cost is about 60 eur plus the motor 15-20 eur.
