How to find Neptune! Eyes on the Sky takes you step-by-step on how to find the furthest planet in our solar system, star-hopping your way from bright, first magnitude stars visible just about everywhere, all the way to the 8th magnitude planet. Neptune is visible in binoculars from most place, but may require a small telescope in areas with the very worst light pollution. Also, don't miss the fantastic conjunction of Jupiter, Venus, Aldebaran and the Moon, plus, Mars keeps moving methodically towards Saturn.
See what's up in the night sky every week with "Eyes on the Sky," astronomy made easy.

So you've found Neptune using Google Sky Map, and seen the planet that way? I'm truly curious if you have.

OK, here's the dealio: Thanks to your video, I've finally got a "confirmed kill" for Neptune with an 8" Dobsonian and a 5mm lens, I've had smaller scopes throughout the years and Neptune was the last, elusive planet on my list.
Using "finder scope fields" as units of navigation was the deal clincher.
BTW, the reason I bagged Uranus many years ago, was because it was occulted by the moon, all I had to do was point the telescope at the lunar mountains and watch it rise!

Sorry, for some reason I've had trouble with YouTube letting me comment on my own videos. I'm so happy to have helped you find Neptune! That's GREAT!

yup, here in the southern mediterranean area the moon and jupiter should become visible just before the occultation (around 2.50 am from my location), and we might be able to see jupiter both "set" (3.20 am) and "dawn" (4.10 am). looking forward to it !
