January 2nd, 2009. My brother-in-law and I are on the ski lift located on the backside of Angel Fire Ski Resort. The ski lift stops for the 3rd time during our ascent to the top of the mountain. A minute or so passes and the skier to our left says "How does a snowboarder introduce them self to a skier?" After looking for an answer from the snowboarder sitting to our right, we look back to the left. The skier answers his own question with "Sorry, dude!"

This is a video of a collision between a snowboarder and a skier. The video was taken the day before the ride on the ski lift.

Neither skier nor snowboarder seen in the video sustained injuries from the collision.

Sound effects are from galaxyfaraway.com and are presumed to have been sampled from movies created and owned by George Lucas and LucasFilm, Ltd.

Do you realize that the warmest winter location for Canada during the winter season (2009 - 2010) was White Rock (not far from Vancouver). It experienced a warmer winter last winter than Dallas (straight air temperature). After factoring in the windchill (light average wind speeds), in terms of "real feel" both White Rock AND Vancouver's winter season was much milder than Dallas. The snow is in the mountains. That region of Canada has very mild winters.

  • the fis safety rules do not say the downhill person has right of way it is the person in front but if they are turning it puts anyone coming down straight or a less of an angle in front of them the person turning must look up the hill to check they are not putting themselves in the path of another as they may not have much time to avoid you, lets face it you would not cross a road without checking for oncoming traffick as you may get run over the same applies on the piste

  • The downhill skier/snowboarder has the right of way. In that collision the skier was at fault....Sorry Dude!
