The Wood Prairie Farm Tour starts with clearing land, plowing new land, spreading fish scales for fertilizer, growing hull-less oats, picking the rocks that the glaciers left, pulling mustard out of grain fields. We greensprout our potato seed, tuber unit plant our certified organic potatoes, pre-emergent flame them for weed control and colorado potato beetle control. We cultivate the potatoes with a fingerweeder, then hoe them with spades. Two irrigation ponds are dug on the farm and we irrigate with drip irrigation. We plow down buckwheat and other green manure crops. We rogue the potatoes for virus control and release ladybugs. We harvest the certified organic potatoes with a John Deere digger and hand pickers. The potatoes are graded, sized and cleaned in our potato storage. Chantenay Carrots are also grown and harvested.
