Plecos are an excellent example of bottom feeders adaptation. Look at this specimen skin coloration. In its natural environment it will blend with the substrate (camouflage). Many generations of students enjoyed this and some other aquatic creatures that inhabit the former Life Science building at the Los Angeles Valley College where I work.
