This is a video showing TTC #2613 on Route 96 Wilson apart of the only used buses the TTC runs today. This is a 1981 GM New Look purchased by the Société de transport de Montréal or STM for short and was numbered 24-084. This bus was rebuilt in March 2000. Today only 5 of the 20 are active, 2600, 2609, 2611, 2613 and 2615.

Edit October 24, 2006: 2613 has been retired in October 2006

  • The New Looks have been retired years ago in my city :(

  • There's still plenty of them in Toronto and considering the new bus garage and the battery problems in the new hybrid buses they'll need these buses until at least the battery issues are solved. 2011 is likely the last year for the New Looks here, unless the TTC changes its mind and decides it still needs them like it has in the past.

  • We had few of 'em still in service in Montreal not too long ago,but now..they're memories...*cries* lol,I can't beleive the STM retired NewLooks to put Nova LFS's!!! AARRGGGHHH!!!

  • Well, at least you still have Classics that will live at least for some time. We're losing D901s, Classics, D40s and many New Looks for Orion VII which is frankly worse than the LFS by miles.

  • I remember taking these old gm buses as a kid here in the US in NYC, Boston, and Springfield, MA. Wow this really brings back memories. I am glad they still use them in Canada. Nice to see some historic preservation!

  • Well the TTC in particular didn't keep them for historic preservation. Infact they're here to prevent shortages where the newer buses had to be prematurely retired. These were kept mainly because they were inexpensive to maintain and are the most reliable in the fleet. These GM New Looks are common in Toronto and Edmonton in particular, Calgary still has quite a few.

  • every morning at wilson i see at least 1 and there are tonnes of them on the 52 lawrence service

  • i still see the odd new look cruising around here in halifax. they smell like shit now but still sound cool

  • I hope they do. Toronto just wont be Toronto without these buses with personality!

  • I meant 1997- 2002s in Dallas DART.

  • Well the the 1997/98s in Cleveland RTA and 1997-2002s RTSes with wider front doors like TTCs are doing just fine and will continue to be active for another 10 to 15 years.

  • I don't see how our RTSs can screw up after 10 years of service. They were delivered in 1998.

  • Sounds like the same couple issues with my 1991 TMC RTSes in Chicago CTA which they are currently retiring, and they were my favorite #1 Buses in America.

  • Well... After their rebuild, they don't bring it out in weekends. And sometimes the lift for accessible pax doesn't work and most of the time, the A/C doesn't work.
