This video shows the life and death of a broiler chicken, the chickens you get chicken meat from. These chickens grow in shed filled with thousands of chickens and usually only get less than a half a square foot of living space. They're given steroids to grow bigger than their ancestors so they can be slaughtered sooner. Many develop crippling leg disorder because thier legs cannot support their abnormally large bodies and die of dehydration in the shed before they are slaughtered. Some are burned by ammonia gases and the sheds are dirty and disease-ridden.

  • I also live in Canada and only have 6 chickens that pretty much do as they please and are well fed and will never be eaten by humans... I hear people that raise chickens to be eaten commenting that we don't give our animals growth hormones or steroids because they are illegal. So is cocaine and it is wildly popular in this country... so that statement is not valid. It happens here just as much.

  • Where can I get those chicken roids? I just hope they won't make me grow feathers.

But seriously if you want to know where ur food come from raise it. Kill it and grill it. Don't be a little bitch. U will see there is a mortality rate in raising live stock. U will appreciate life more. look up Urban farming/backyard chickens. U can give the bird a better life. But remember at the end of the day its just food, not pets, that ur chewing on.

  • I've been weight lifting for about six months and I have been putting canned chicken with 2 cups of water (40g protein) in a blender and guzzling it right after my workout (it does not taste bad, just like chicken). I am getting massive results. But I am wondering, is it not because the chicken is easier to absorb, but because of the the steroids used to grow the chicken.

    What do you all think??

  • @dissturbbed this comment makes me wish people like you were never born.

  • Oh gosh :O

  • Sucks to be the birds but thats the price you pay for being losers in the great race of evolution, put it quite simply WE WON. The worm gets tortured by the chicken just like the chicken gets tortured by the human. Time for some kfc..later chicken

  • north carolina slaughters 700 million chickens a year.

  • @dunkirkassailant rot in hell.

  • strangely this video makes me crave poultry even more
