You clearly have never owned a GN or Regal! Everything you just described sounds like a Ford engine lmao I have two 78 Buick Regals, one has a 3.8 and the other has a 4.1, both Turbo and they run just fine. Yes, like any other car, they require some work. but if you know what the fuck your doing... you wont have any problems at all! I will admit the my first (original) 3.8 had bad oil leaks and overheated a lot... after sitting in the garage for 12 years! lol That`s why it now has a 4.1 in it.
