Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) held a press conference to discuss Roland Burris's future in the Senate. They said that the whole Senate will have to act on the matter, but they are going to wait for the Illinois Supreme Court to make it's decision on whether or not Secretary of State Jesse White must co-sign Governor Rod Blagojevich's certificate that appointed Burris to replace President-Elect Obama
Dick Durbin and Roland Burris are the worst senate delegation in the us.

Have you read the Constitution? Article 1? Have you studied Powell v McCormick? SCOTUS made this clear in 1969, the Senate cannot create new qualifications outside the 3 in Article 1. Internal rules are irrelevant. And Illinois law is clear Gov has sole appointing power. Don't quote rules, follow the law. It is clear. Even Jesse White said Burris doesn't need his sig, and then offered to sign for Burris, but so long as it wasn't on same paper as Blogo. Inform yourself before yapping.

Have you read Rule II?! I think the rule is pretty clear about certification, and its requirement for U.S. senators. Sure, it does not address the actual SEATING of senators, but it DOES address every other aspect of Senate business. Clearly, it would be unwise to let a suspect appointee hold up the business of the Senate, simply because his credentials are not in order. If Blagojevich really wants to fight for Burris, he should fire Jesse White, and hire or help elect a new attorney general.

If I were the Illinois Supreme Court, I would say this was a frivolous action and dismiss it, putting it square back on Harry. He's already eating crow, he's spinning this back on Illinois. This is all about the fact that Harry said he wouldn't seat anyone and he's now embarassed.
The Secretary of State does not have the authority to veto the Governor. Harry Reid knows that. He's wrong on this issue, Diane Feinstein said so, and she's the Rules Chair.

Democrat lie 3:35-3:50, they didn't say they were "going to review" whoever was appointed by Blagojevich before, they said they weren't going to seat anyone he appointed period!
They're squirming to get a little wiggle room so they can relent on this without admitting they changed. Lie.

Roland burris may not have made it a race issue, but bobby rush did, and I suspect that blago did too.
