@defsentancepoet Giulia, the vestal virgin of the title, has fallen in love with the soldier Licinio. During their nightly rendez-vous they are caught and sentenced to death. In this aria, Giulia prays to the godess Latona that Licinio must escape. Btw, this aria was released on the album "Callas at La Scala" in 1958 as stated above, but it was recorded in 1955.
