@predatorzi Its exactly what FMAs are based on too... Doesnt matter the age of the art. I practice Modern Arnis which is a modernized version of arnis. Age means nothing, applications means everything. Apart from weaponry, silat and FMAs are very similar in philosophies.

Maybe someone should hold a battle SILAT vs KALI. I don't think KALI can win anyway. Silat is aged hundred of years actually. The one who practices Silat throughout his life is actually hard to take down. SIlat is all about speed, precision attacks on nerves and ur body's vital point. If you wanna c the real speed of silat, do come to Malaysia or Indonesia.

@gemboz pencak silat refers to everything like filipino silat, pencak silat and the malaysian silat.......pencak silat has something that another doesn't have and that has something pencak silat does have....understand

Also pak dadang and ibu rita, have different mentalities to teaching/fighting. Pak uses more direct techniques, whereas Rita likes to play with you to make you mess up.

i have actually met both Pak Dadang and Ibu Rita. They are very skilled, and during many of their techniques that they show you, they say "Oh I used this when I had to fend off some gangsters."

@abcdjkfd silat is a pretty good martial art but i don't think its better than kali because kali (eskrima) has more lethanlness and effectivness that silat doesn't have and what kali does...but ur right it depends on the person behind it however sometimes it also depends on the martial arts sometimes like say karate vs boxing..karate would have a better chance against boxing just like kali has a WAAAYY better chance against silat so yeah. silat is good but not as good as kali eskrima, KALI FTW

yeah, true. but as a self-trained (read:bastardized) martial artist, i gotta say the guys that scare me are the ones who have NO FEAR of what you could possibly do. that is, if i have a knife, the guy who is sane, rational, and is wary of that knife and my possible skill with it, yet is a martial artist himself, will probably err on the side of caution. the crazy guy who cuts himself, though, would probably just go nuts and get us both killed. and the nutter won't care. now THAT'S scary.
