Wilco is quite possibly the driving force behind punk rock and all that came after it. He is the bridge between the original r and b of the mississipi delta and the music of Great Britain that grew up out of the 1976 so called punk explosion. He is one of the all time greats of rock n roll music and you should get yourself to one of his initmate gigs accompanied by the legendary Blockheads bassist Norman Watt-Roy. Imho the best song he penned is "All Through The City" - check it out on Youtube.
Wilko the greatest of all, is true that the greatest are always humble and kind in nature, Wilko is the perfect example of this.
