  • I met and enjoyed Willard. His grandson, Willard Watson III, is now an outstanding student at Appalachian State in Boone.

  • This is how America should be.

  • see your mother and shake her hand. lol.

  • Did anybody pay attention to the fact that he is the cousin of the great Doc Watson?

  • Someone please do a flat foot dance, crip walkin mashup.

  • @thatcrazychick7 well i promise you there aint people like my great grandpa anymore i dont care who they are trust me it aint the liquor that made him the last mountain man you need to watch the video again and pay attention

  • I remember old Willard Watson. I thought he looked like Charlie Chaplin when he danced, like a wooden marionette, very lanky, but smooth too.

  • You are right that they are still around. Speaking of "The Last Mountain Man," there was a book "The Last of the Mountain Men" by Everett Peterson that was about Sylvan Hart, a man who went to the Idaho Mountains with nothing but tools and an Engineering Degree and made everything he needed by himself. Truly amazing man!

  • Yep, and a little likker-based vanilla flavorin' behind the ears to smell good for yer sweetie, just like Granny on "The Beverly Hillbillies." LOL!

You just gotta love moonshinin' country folk!

  • Take it easy, NNJ! If you share the fierce, independent, resourceful, self-reliant spirit of the mountain man, no matter where you are, you are a true American too...It's just that there's not many of us anymore. You sure wouldn't find the likes of Willard Watson campaigning for Socialized Medicine or lining up for bail-out money.
