  • Heh heh heh - great response! So why didn't I like it?? Because the guitar player's contribution reminded me of the way I would have played it forty-five years ago. Playing rhythm guitar in a covers band (but we were called groups then!), I would get bored and add a few passing chords here and there just to amuse myself...

  • I hear ya - Those passing chords are from the charts written by LeGlaire and Linsley the authors of the song. But it certainly isn't rhythmic lead tune like Blue days, Black Nights or Changing all those changes. Thanks you for your opinion - this post is not meant for gratuitous compliments only. Perhaps the 2009 version might be tighter??

  • Yep, it's a good song but, oh dear, I really don't like this version very much. Sorry fellas.

  • good luck with the knob twiddling..

  • I think your vocals need a little more "Buddy" an a little less u on this one. Good job though. I play this tune almost like I do "Rave On" lol. It s fun bc un can play rave on which is in G then play this song which is in F i believe. Kudos.

  • you are very kind sir...thank you

  • look guys,,there is only one buddy holly..But if there could be another you would be it. You rock this song and I love it. It has all the feel of the man and the group..out standing!! I am a buddy holly collector and adore the man..

  • Well, well, well, I didn't realise you were playing the song as originally conceived!! I stand corrected - profuse apologies - just goes to show, you learn something every day!! I s'pose the Buddy Holly and (subsequently) Don McLean versions have become very deeply embedded in my hopelessly inadequate brain. It never crossed my mind that this is way the composers wanted it to be.

All power to you, fellas!! Now please excuse me while I twiddle some more knobs...

  • i love this song! :) this was one of my favourites growing up and buddy holly is the best :) thanks for posting it
