  • granted he ran very cold plugs and extra rich, with a total timing of 32 degrees, it did not show any signs of pre-ignition or detonation. its a matter of just trying new ideas over and over again, companies want you to think you have to buy all their stuff but at the end of the day, an engine is an engine and although they have limits, they can handle much more then most people think. ive put it to the test many times now.

  • it was already an 8.5:1 motor so compression was never an issue. like i said earlier, besides a cam and mild heads, this 2 bolt 350 is completely stock having all cast internals. not only did it take the beating of the weiand 142 in this video, but i later put on a 6-71 pushing 9psi of boost and it still took the beating. as long as you are under 9.5:1 it would be easy to run on pump gas. i sold the 142 to a friend with a 10:1 motor, still ran pump gas and was fine

  • @87iroctim wouldnt you need to swap out the pistons for LOW COMPRESSION ones? my 350 is slightly modified new cam and stuff (the basics), not high end stuff.

  • yes. my 350 was as cheap and basic as it gets when it comes to internals. i bought the 2.5 inch upper pulley and got it up to 7psi of boost, and regularly shifted at 6500. not only did it never break, nothing got too hot, there was no preignition, and when i took the motor apart there was no type of heat damage. i decided to leave the motor as is and later ran a 6-71 pushing 10psi, just to see if it would last, and it did with flying colors. just goes to show what a stocker can take.

  • you think it would be alright to drop a 142 on a stock 350?

  • oh and as for heads, they were stock gm 161cc heads that had a previous port job done to them. no idea on what they flow, but im sure its nothing impressive. the 142 is a great easy street set-up though, just dont keep it if you plan on making a race car, too small.

  • what have you done to the engine, compression, cam, pistons , carburator or is it all stock im building sbc with weiand 142 need some info never owned blower before.

    thanks alot

  • the hp was still going uphill on the dyno sheet when it backfired, but judging from when the torque fell and when the hp curve started to flatten out i would say it might get around 320-325 max to the wheels. it came out to 318.7 at the backfire point.

  • what is is capable of producing?

  • no, the hot wire to the coil popped off, scared the shit out of me.
