Ever since I found the "Customize a Griptilian" feature on the Benchmade website I have been dying for a orange and black knife. The Spyderco Delica 4 caught my eye because it has many of the features I am looking for in a knife. It is small (blade under 3"), lightweight, thin and very well made so it seemed like the perfect knife for "customizing". Why not purchase both the orange/silver and black/black knives and swap the scales? Once I started the project I realized it was easier to simply swap the blades, lockbars, pins and screws. A easy customization but you alone should decide if it is right for you. In other words -- no whining about lost parts, missing fingers etc. Don't forget to tape up the blades for safety.

C11FPOR Spyderco Delica 4 Satin 2-7/8" VG10 Flat Grind Plain Blade, Orange FRN Scales, Silver Liner, Silver Hardware and Black Clip.

C11PSBBK Spyderco Delica 4 Black 2-7/8" VG10 Flat Saber-Grind Combo Blade, Black FRN Scales, Silver Liner, Black Hardware and Black Clip.

Swapping scales on the two knives creates two unique knives. The resulting Black Combo Blade has Orange FRN Scales, Silver Liner, Black Hardware and Black Clip.

Resulting Satin Blade has Black FRN Scales, Silver Liner, Silver Hardware and Black Clip. Close to C11PBK but has Flat Grind instead of Flat Saber-Grind Blade.

Tip: I found it easier to align the liners by installing the lockbar after everything else has been reassembled. Insert the lockbar pin partially and while positioning the lockbar pivot hole directly over the pin push the entire knife against the pin so it slides into place and then secure with the screw.

Have a great day.
