Going fast in a straight line doesn't mean anything. You could modify a cheap civic and make it super fast. On a track the RS would destroy the M5. Check out the ring times...m5 on the bottom LOL!!!

How you can compare a BMW M5sedan, Alpina or otherwise to a finely tuned Porsche evades me.
You take a GT3 RS in a straight line? Awesome, so might a tweaked Civic fitted with NOS, but come the 1st bend you're laughing on the other side of your acne scarred face.

The turbo and GT3RS are drivers' cars - BMW caters to the masses, periodically producing high HP M versions of family cars to draw in the disillusioned.
