* 4 large spoons of Honey

This video is so much fun to watch -- Memee Denise is so enthusiastic that I translated all the amounts into "American" and made this most delicious bread. It is now my beakfast bread every day. Love anise seeds.

usually it is baking soda. at least that is what payard and lebovitz called for.

i think there es a mistake in the english translation of this recipe; the translator wrote yeast but it's baking powder actually.

I was looking for a pain d'epice recipe and was delighted to find this one, complete with video of the wonderful Memee Denise. Merci! Later, I found the levure sachet is not yeast but baking powder (levure chemique). The French sachets are 2.5 tsp each, so the recipe takes 5 tsp total. Thank you again. :)
