FRUITLANDS MUSEUM HARVARD MASSACHUSETTS

Fruitlands is a wonderful place to visit for discovering hertiage, nature & art.

It was a beautiful day in August 2010 and we were out for a ride in the country. We decided to make a B-line for Fruitlands to revisit the Tree Men we had seen a few weeks before.

Good thing we did because they are gone today. My husband & daughter walked the trails there yesterday & they had taken them away. Where to I don't know. I loved them when I saw them and I'm glad i took photos of them while I could.

We drive up to Fruitlands almost on a weekly basis just for the view or to walk the trails. It's been the destination also for many school field trips as well.

The lanscape at Frruitlands comprises 210 acres including a variety of environments: meadows, pine barren, and woodlands. Three miles of trails. The views are breathtaking.

Fruitlands is an excellent location for distinctive weddings, family gatherings, corporate social functions, retreats, and small meetings.

They have a wonderful art gallery that contains over 230 nineteenth century vernacular portraits and more than 100 Hudson River School landscapes and so much more.

The Native American Gallery contains a significant collection of artifacts from the plains, Northwest Coastal, Arctic, and Southwest cultural areas and honors the spiritual presence and cultural history of the first Americans.

On the property you will find a Museum store which is open daily April - November. You can have a delicious lunch in the Alcott's Restraurant & Tea Room and participate in a diverse schedule of special events, outdoor concerts, and lectures.

I even had my wedding shower there. It's just a lovely place to see.

The Fruitlands Farmhouse was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1974, and today celebrates the people, ideas, and stories of this short-lived but remarkable utopian experiment.

(of course I'm reading all this from the brochure but it's all so there...)

To really find out what it's all about please visit their site @ www.fruitlands.org.

The day I was filming I was also testing out a new little tiny handy video camera. They keep getting smaller & smaller. A little wiggly in the hands but it did the job.

Enjoy!
