This is a promotional trailer (called "PROMO6") that appeared on a late pre-release demo disc of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex. It's a modified version of the two E3 trailers combined, but it also has some more beta content, and is in much higher quality.

I've uploaded it here because of its rarity - I don't think this video has appeared anywhere else on the Internet. I've also disabled ratings, because I didn't actually make this video.

  • @LXShadow You should be making Crash and Spyro games. Not some first-person shooter that gets old after you finish it!

Yeah. It seems "Crash and Burn" has a pretty long history; like it's the earliest level to be made for the game. Wish they have made a separate level instead of deleting a lot of interesting parts in it.

  • @TheCrashProject Ha ha, I wish! I wouldn't be too ambitious, but, who knows what could happen?

Yeah, it's a big shame they cut so much out of the level. It was easily cut short by half. And that's discluding the whole idea of the gorilla kidnapping incident!

Speaking of levels cut short, the Airship was actually part of Weathering Heights. You'd have destroyed the ship's defences first, then landed on it. That was once just a theory of mine, but I found proof recently. Yay!

  • @LXShadow Yeah, I saw the interior of that giant something-something on the airship level (thanks to Crash Mania), and it was indeed, a part of "Weathering Heights." Oh and I love the music on that level!

I feel really bad that both Traveller's Tales creations ("Wrath" and "Twinsanity") have a lot of cuts made before the final version. It's common in video gaming, of course, but these guys cut the most interesting ideas they have for the game!

    What about the gorilla incident?

  • @TheCrashProject Argh, that music - always got stuck in my head after I hacked the level. =P

Traveller's Tales were under some rough circumstances. The first one was given only one year to make the game, and the next one, from what I've heard, suffered a hard-drive crash halfway through development. It's sad, but, there's very little that can be done now- only pray that Activision revive Crash.

The gorilla kidnapping incident I meant; it's an earlier Mysteries section. =)

  • @LXShadow Ah, so Coco was supposed to be kidnapped by a gorilla? Interesting. Games in the original formula lacked in-level stories and cutscenes. They should have left that, it'd be a great idea!

I hope they semi-reboot Crash and let TT develop it again; which should start where "Twinsanity" left off and include the concepts that didn't make it to the final game, as well as the others in "Evolution", "Cortex Chaos" and "Clash Racing."

  • @elvisman2000 Yep - that's the one! Crunch is nowhere to be seen in this trailer though...

  • @LXShadow Wait, is this the game for PS2 where that crunch makes his first appearance?

  • @elvisman2000 It's Crash Bandicoot 4: The Wrath of Cortex. But the game changed so much after this trailer that it wouldn't be hard to mistake it for a different game completely. =P

  • Wait, what game is this? I've never seen such a crash game o.o

  • @TheCrashProject 13 years? Boy, I hope not! I'm hoping I'll be making my own games by then. =P

Those levels are all very mysterious, but if you asked me, I'd want to play the beta Crash and Burn. It's such a special level: it's in the original pitch, it had a story, and screenshots of it are even hidden in the game's opening (on the VR room's computer monitors).

Argh, I thought I was finished with this game! Now you're making me want to look for betas all over again. =P
