Stand for Children Co-founder describes Illinois take down of teachers and their unions.

I happened on a video that I knew needed to be shared with everyone. I copied and edited it down to the most important 15 min where Jonah Edelman Co-founder of Stand for Children talks in detail about how they came to Illinois with the express purpose to take down the teachers unions. He revels in the fact that the general public was unsuspecting of the tactics being used against the teachers of Illinois and if they had it would have been unpalatable . He talks about how he worked to divide and conquer the teachers' and how the Illinois teachers association president went to work for Arne Duncan at the U.S. Dept of Ed. shortly after the talks were settled. It is more about fooling the people who the legislators were supposed to vote for but instead they voted for the people who threw the most money at them. Is that really how you want our political system to work, not how it does work but how it is supposed to work? I know I don't so that is the reason for the video along with a warning to other unions around the country. They are in or coming to a city near you. Alec, Students first and Stand for Children are changing public ed in a harmful way

I LOVE how he was so confident that the fact finder report would favor Stand on Children. He actually came back completely blaming Rahm for the impas and rejecting Edleman's "common sense" reforms. The irony is that the CTU strike which was forced by Stand on Children's political manipulation is empowering teachers in other states to stand up to these harmful "reforms."

I love how he said that Karen Lewis made a "tactical miscalculation" in agreeing to the strike threshold in the SB7 legislation. We had a 98% vote in favor of authorizing a strike. Edelman said that we didn't know our history... We MADE history.

Mr. Edelman obviously you grossly underestimated the solidarity of CTU. I am a proud working CTU member and my husband is a proud working IBEW member. Shame on you, shame on Rahm, shame on those legislators! Unions in this country are taking a beating. We need to stand together, strong and proud!
