[Nilin 29 Jan 2009] In the Palestinian town Ni´lin the popular committee against the wall has put together an exhibition showing texts and photos about the holocaust. The message of the ongoing exhibition is twofold:
1. That, without denying the suffering of the Jewish people during the holocaust, the holocaust was performed in Europe and not by Palestinians. Thus, Palestinian people should not be punished for this misdeed.
2. That the world must acknowledge and act on the crimes and suffering committed against the Palestinian people by the Israeli state. The guilt from the past should not blind the world from crimes committed today.
After all your suffering in Ni'lin, and given events in Gaza, I am deeply moved by your acknowledgement that the Jewish people too have been victims, and suffered one of the worse atrocities of history. Recognition of common humanity and refusal to dehumanise despite all you are going through is a tribute to your moral courage and vision.
