I decided it was time to start all over and present a selection of "first videos" for recent sets like M11 and Scars of Mirrodin, that would demonstrate what it is I do and what I teach in my book, "The Card Wizard's Black Book: Second Edition." I am a former dealer, now just a player, and I want to teach people what the hardcore dealers don't want you to know. If you have never watched any of my demos before, start with this one! :)

The Card Wizard's Black Book: Second Edition is available now at http://rossedwardsbooks.blogspot.com in print or as an ebook, of from Amazon.com and various other online vendors in print.

The book also teaches not just what the map is for sets like Scars of Mirrodin, but how to learn it for future sets, so that you can use this knowledge in the future. Not every set is mappable, but many sets are, including recent ones like Scars and M11. (So far, not Worldwake. But if I get that to work, I guarantee I'll post about it!)

Anyway thanks for looking, hope you enjoy my little demonstration, and good luck in your collecting and playing efforts!

  • Its a neat book and I can tell the effort that went into it, but to be honset how often will you find a full untampered box and have the time/uninteruption to pick and choose like this?

It clearly works, but its value is truely debatable unless (as you said earlier) you are a dealer ripping mythics from your set boxes.

  • @Xajora - You can order sealed boxes from a number of web and ebay vendors, such as Star City Games, Dave and Adam's Card World, Troll & Toad, and so on. (Not endorsing anybody in particular - those are just examples.)

  • @recardwizard

But if you bought a box intending to open all packs, why does it matter that you knew what you were going to open eventualy anyway? In both scenario's it has debatable value.

  • @Xajora - You don't open all the packs. You use the packs that don't have top constructed rares in them to draft with.

  • hello ross , my girlfriend bought me your book for christmas ,and i was wonderning if the tracking works for chinese or no english language boxes ... or are they stillmade in the usa , so it makes no difference ????

  • @Dreameradept - Hi! The book does tell you about differences between each country's maps, for sets that are known to be different. For older sets like 10th edition, it was identical, but the packs were in sequence by column and not by row. For sets like M11, I include two different maps because many Asia/Pacific boxes come from a different map than USA boxes.
