Lyz Cooper is joined by 28 people giving a gong bath to each other. During this powerful session four different kinds of gongs are used. Chao (Earth) and Feng (Wind) gongs are washed gently up and down in between the dongs of the Vietnamese bossed or 'nippled' gongs which provide lovely bell-like tones. Every now and again the large Paiste symphonic gongs add their large voices to the mix, bathing the group in their wonderful harmonics. The group worked intuitively, allowing the sound to tell them when and where it wanted to be used.
The group are swinging the gongs to add extra energy to the sound, allowing it to move with the swing as well as allowing the person's energy to be added to the sound. The group are working with the intention of bathing the people in the centre of the group in sound. As this was part of a 'Sacred Sound and Sacred Site' workshop we were working on ourselves with the therapeutic sound before going up to Stonehenge for our final session.
During the day different instruments were used which work with the energy of Stonehenge and the group was taken on a journey of self-discovery and 'wholing' with the sound. In the sound baths, participants were asked to check resonances within their system as the sound began to highlight imbalances on all levels of being (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual).
Lyz loves working with sacred sites and sound and enjoys setting up a sonic conversation with ancient places such as Avebury, Rosslyn Chapel, the pyramids, the Chalice Well and The White Spring in Glastonbury.
This is a fantastic activity!
