Amazing how much they sped up the audio on the TV show. This is sped up so much it's actually in the key of D#. The album is in D.
My personal favorite song by the Monkees. Whoever wrote this song originally was really having an inspirational moment. It almost comes across like a charged Buffalo Springfield/Crosby Still & Nash number.
