This is a Goble Harpsichord made in 1970 for the Royal College of Music in London. Here it's being played by a new MIDI driven "U.A.V." (Unmanned Awesome Virtuoso) which I designed and built the other day, because it was raining. This U.A.V. can be simply lifted off and completely removed in an instant, leaving not even a mark on the instrument, which is thus also useful for rehearsals and concerts. More information will soon be added at www.messiter.com - if you're interested to read about how it was made. [Malcolm Messiter 2011]

  • The red felt was added to absorb sound from the solenoids when the lid is closed. But it turns out that they are very quiet anyhow !

  • Shame about the harpsichord. How about fixing it up to that lovely Deegan I sold you?

    Are you taking orders?

  • And you should hear it live! Come to the greatly applauded Barnet Chamber Music Club concerts (free) – check out the website mentioned above – to hear it in novel arrangements supported by several of London's best woodwind players (and others) – though mostly with a 'live' continuo player. A second bank of solenoids, I believe is to follow: leaving a few channels free for secret surprises!

  • Hi this is Jay from Rs components, I have had a look at this after our chat today and think this is amazing, a lot of effort and work you have put into this. Just wondering if you had any midi track could the arrangement play onto this I mean one track from a midi arrangement

  • Nancarrow goes Baroque?

  • In awe! And the period red felt lining caps your master's touch! What can't you do!? One adamant and heartfelt request: a video of your playing a duo with your instruments. I subscribed to your channel so I *will* be notified!
